So, it seems the inevitable has happened. snapchat pictures have been published.
Whilst it's clear that this will cause a great deal of embarrassment and some discomfort, it's hardly a surprise. I don't think anyone really thought their images couldn't be screen grabbed and saved.
Snapchat are, quite reasonably, pointing out that the images were not on their servers but I'm not sure that matters much. The Emperor's clothes have been seen. It will be interesting to see whether behaviours change as a result.
Snapchat users send 700 million photos and videos per day, the company said in May 2014. Though Snapchat users haven't experienced a photo breach like this before, a hack in December last year resulted in approximately 4.6 million Snapchat usernames and phone numbers being posted online. In theory, those leaked usernames could now be cross-referenced with the newly purloined photos.
