Fashion is driven by lifestyle. Polo shirts, sports jackets and basketball boots are all cases of utility clothing becoming a fashion statement. But what precisely does a smart watch say about you?
Wearable will likely take off in the mainstream sooner or later but quite possibly only after a really compelling sport or lifestyle application has been found.
Smartwatches with built-in phone powers are not new, and will never be cool. Even as companion devices, they have limited value, but also making them smartphones actually adds an anti-feature: The need to secure and/or maintain a second cellular contract.
