A piece of spin here from the US government; suggesting that Putin's blockade of the Internet and censorship of the press is a result of Edward Snowden. This does of course ignore the real issues entirely, like what this means to international security or, indeed why the US was spying in the first place.
To me, the strange thing is that it keeps Snowden in the limelight when they'd do better to let him drift into history.
The U.S. has decried Russia’s local storage mandate, arguing that the country should not use Edward Snowden’s revelations of U.S. mass surveillance as an excuse to break up the internet.
